The North Hill Branch Library of the Akron Public Library opened in 1927 in a storefront and moved into its present location in 1958. The building was in use until July of 2003 when the branch was closed and the collection put in storage for a year in order to tear down the building and replace it with a new, 12,000 square foot library on the same site. A new building opened in 2004 and offers the community two meeting rooms, a significantly larger collection, and more computers for public use. Recently 22nd Annual North Hill Chamber of Commerce Property Beautification Award was presented to the North Hill Branch.
