大通公園にある姉妹都市からの贈り物について
 
大通公園は大通高校の近くにある大きな公園です。私たち大通高校生にとって大通公園は、毎日見ることができるので身近な場所に感じられます。
大通公園には、様々な記念品があります。姉妹都市からの贈り物もそのひとつです。
ミュンヘン市からは、１９７６年に姉妹都市提携を記念して贈られた「マイバウム」というモニュメントがあります。「五月の木」という意味で、春を迎える喜びを表しています。大通公園西１１丁目にあります。

大通公園西１２丁目には、姉妹都市から贈られた花々が植えられているサンクガーデンと呼ばれるスペースがあります。

サンクガーデン

ミュンヘン市からオリンピックフラワー、ヴィスターラント。

瀋陽市から玖瑰マイカイ、
ポートランド市からブラスバンド。
ブラスバンド。
噴水や銅像の周りに植えられた花々の香りは大変良いもので、札幌市民に愛されています。
このように、大通公園は姉妹都市と深く関わりをもち、それを大切にしています。
 
 
SAPPORO AND SISTER CITIES
Discovering the monuments in Odori Park
 
Do you know Sapporo is connected with some overseas cities as sister cities? Actually, five cities have a connection with Sapporo; Portland in the U.S., Munich in Germany, Taejon in Korea, Shenyang in China, and Novosibirsk in Russia. In most instances, they are connected because they have same the latitude with Sapporo.
 
As Odori park is the nearest park to Odori high school, we students feel a special bond with Odori park. There are a lot of monuments in Odori. The gifts from sister cities are one of them.
In Nishi 11 cho-me, there is a big monument called “Maibaum”, was given by Munich, Germany. “Maibaum” means “the tree of May”, it represents the joy of welcoming spring.
 
“The Bubbler of Benson” in Nishi 2 cho-me was given by the city of Portland in 1996. There is also the space which is called ‘Thank Garden’. The garden is planted with a lot of flowers which were given by some sister cities. For example, ‘Olympic Flower’ from Munich, ‘San Flare’ from Portland, and so on.
 
The fragrance of flowers planted around the statue and fountain very good, they are loved by citizens of Sapporo.  In this way, Odori Park has been deeply involved with the sister city. We have to cherish this special relationship.
