Haddon Hill Cafe
photo CC SA-BY from Our OaklandJust guess where Haddon Hill Cafe is! Yes, that's right. It's on Haddon Hill, off Brooklyn Ave., a couple blocks east of Lake Merritt at 504 Wesley Ave.
They have coffee, tea, espresso drinks, pastries, free wi-fi, a piano, and chillness. It's not super huge, but cozy and rarely crowded.
They have this pastry called a Kouign-amann (Breton in origin, of course) which is like a twenty-times more delicious croissant cake. The Kouign-amanns are from Oakland's Starter Bakery.
They're open from 8AM to 3PM every day and area nice stop if you're already in the Cleveland Heights area, perhaps checking out the Cleveland Cascade or enjoying Lake Merritt. There's also a laundromat next door and the Leaning Tower of Pizza on the next block, should you need laundry and/or pizza.
