The Sweet Bar Bakery is located at 2355 Broadway, Oakland, in the former main showroom location of the historic MacFarlane's Candy Company. Opened by Mani Niall, former private chef to Michael Jackson, the bakery features sweet and savory baked goods, including vegan and gluten free offerings.
The bakery has been the site of two flash mobs--"Thriller" in January 2013, and "Single Ladies" in January 2014.
Sweet Bar was named "best new bakery" by the East Bay Express in 2013.
On October 16, 2013, Sweet Bar debuted their "bikery"- a mobile bakery- in Frank Ogawa Plaza.
In May, 2014, Sweet Bar will begin serving dinner Tuesday through Friday. They will stay open until 9pm and serve pizza and salad and some specials, including chicken pot pie and macaroni and cheese.
