Deuce Dirty B

Deuce Dirty B is a Heavy Metal instrumental band formed in Camp Pendleton California by two Marines. The members have gotten out of the marine corps and now live in the Bloomington-Normal area.

Foundation

  • Deuce Dirty B was founded in February 2008 when Lucas Dwyer and Sam Armbrust were assigned to the same room in the 1st CEB Barracks, Camp Pendleton California. The name Deuce Dirty B came from the platoon they were in, Bravo Company Second Platoon. B for bravo Deuce for second and dirty was from a platoon nickname. My(Luke) first weekend in California I went to L.A and purchased one of my favorite guitars, when i got back and showed my roommate he was ecstatic and got an electric drum set since his real one was too big and to loud for the barracks. Soon we were writing our own music.
  • Deuce Dirty B went through a few other musicians; A few guitarists, a few singers and a bassist. None of these guys seemed to stick. So Sam and I began playing around with live recordings. I would record the leads in after the rhythm was recorded. Soon my Sergeant had us play in front of our boss, and our boss had us play in front of our company first sergeant.

Personal Bios

Lucas Dwyer - Guitarist

I am from Rockford Illinois and started playing guitar on my 15th birthday and I have not stopped ever since. I taught myself how to play with only a few pointers from some other people. During high school I was playing about four hours a day. First I started by playing One by Metallica then Symphony of Destruction by my favorite band Megadeth. I started writing music when I was 17 I also learned to play a little piano but i still prefer the guitar. I have been in 3 bands to date the first was 9 Iron which was a cover band, the second was Merdurtrayne (intentionally spelled wrong) which was a experimental band, and my third band being Deuce Dirty B.

Guitar Set Up

I use an Ibanez RG 370 DX with INF3 and INF4 pickups with the Edge III tremolo system for my standard tuning guitar. For all my drop tuning i use a Dean Flying V. For my amp i have a 75 watt Line 6 with a spider III head. I have a lot of pedals but prefer using my four channel line six pedal that connects to the amps head.

Scale and Sound Preference

I prefer the minor scales and try to have a harmonized rhythm to lead sound. I like the sound of going between clean with a delay and a very heavy distortion for rhythm. For lead I use a heavy distortion with a fast short delay along with some chorus.

Sam Armbrust - Drums

Sam has been playing drums for the majority of his life. starting at the age of six. He is from Mackinaw Illinois. Sam uses DW floor pedals with a Peace DNA set and Zildijan Cymbals.

Influence

Mostly Metal Megadeth Metallica Drowning Pool and some 80s rock bands.

Music Style

We have tried to have a newer feel but stilling having Metal roots such as palm mutes solos fast drums and guitar galloping. We never had a singer we really liked so we stayed instrumental which makes for more freedom in the song writing.

Current Information

We are currently pretty dormant it hard to fit a band in with work and school and we are getting back into practice. We have a new song under construction needing only the final touches. We still have a website up on Myspace from 3 years ago with some songs from a cheap live recording at [http://www.myspace.com/deucedirtybee]
