Overview

Myers Park High School (MPHS) is a public high school located in the Myers Park neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina at 2400 Colony Road. It has been operating since 1951. Many public middle schools feed into Myers Park from all over Charlotte, but the largest pull of incoming students come from its neighbor school, Alexander Graham Middle School which is right down the street. Myers Park High School provides standard, honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses for ninth through twelfth grade students.

MPHS uses a large busing system to transport students to and from school each day. Myers Park High School operates on a consistent schedule beginning at 7:10 a.m. and ending at 2:15 p.m. Students attend four classes and obtain an alternating A-day, B-day schedule. The 62-acre campus includes 13 buildings that are all named after their material subject such as math or language arts.

Mark Bosco is in his fourth year as principal of Myers Park High School. According to US News, MPHS was ranked number 821 on the list of best high schools in the United States in 2016. MPHS is 1 of 30 schools within the Charlotte Mecklenburg School (CMS) district.

Athletics

Myers Park High School has a competitive athletic department and the women’s basketball team is the first team, as of 2015, to hold the title of back-to-back Mecklenburg County 4A state champions. They are the only girls team to hold this title so far in history.
