Britteny Black Rose Kapri is a teaching artist and poet based out of Chicago. A former ensemble member and current teaching artist for Kuumba Lynx, Kapri graduated from Grand Valley State University with a major in English and a minor in French. She represented Young Chicago Authors at the National Poetry Slam in 2009, and works with them as a Teaching Artist Corps Member today. Kapri is a two-time Louder Than a Bomb Haiku Slam Champion, a member of the Not Enough Mics Collective, and, as a playwright, a collaborator on work presented at Victory Gardens, the Chicago Hip Hop Theatre Festival, and the Taste of Chicago. She performs often, and is a regular at venues including The Encyclopedia Show, the Guild Complex, and various programs on WBEZ. Her first book is Winona and Winthrop (New School Poetics), which local artist Krista Franklin calls "fight and tackle and fist."
