Kranky Records is a Chicago-based record label with lots of electronic, experimental, ambient, and similar music. Let's just say that if you were listening to IDM way back in the way back, then you were probably pretty proud that Kranky was in Chicago.
Mad props for having a welcoming message for would-be demo contributors on their site: "First, if you are not familiar with kranky and what we do, then do not contact us. We have a very specific aesthetic here." This is practically High-Fidelity-esque!
