Situated on the Engineering Quad, which is one block north of UIUC's Main Quad, the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center is the focal point of the area. This notable library is the largest engineering library in the United States and serves over one million patrons each year.

The Grainger Engineering Library has four floors and a lower level, all of which have study spaces for students. The lower level is home to the Engineering Documents Collection, a Linux computer lab, and the Digital Library Research Laboratory. The first floor, or entry level, is where one can find the circulation and reference desks as well as current print periodicals. The second floor contains the Grand Gallery, a student study area complete with study cubicles and tables. The third floor has many study carrels and great balcony views. Finally, the fourth floor has areas designed for the Writer's Workshop, group study rooms (with white boards - but be sure to check out dry-erase markers at the circulation desk beforehand), and the Center for Academic Resources in Engineering or CARE.
