Frances Magnes played a violin duet with Albert Einstein at Knollwood on at least one occasion. She was the wife of Ben Magnes who was Ruth Marshall Billikopf’s first cousin, the youngest of three sons of Judah Magnes and Beatrice Lowenstein Magnes. Beatrice Lowenstein was the younger sister of Florence Lowenstein Marshall. After a career as a concert violinist, Frances Magnes taught violin at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale for many years and conducted a string orchestra in the manner of her teacher Adolph Busch.
