Laura Derby was a chef for private camps in Upper St. Regis.  She lived at 3 Riverside Drive.  She served as Tax Collector for the Town of Franklin in 1952 and '53.

She is buried in St Paul's Cemetery.

Laura A. Derby

SARANAC LAKE-- Laura A. Derby, 81 of Riverside Drive died Sunday at the Saranac Lake General Hospital. She was born in Standish on Aug. 18, 1900 the daughter of Peter and Justina (Gonyea) Delcore.

She was married to Duke Derby, who died in 1946.

Mrs. Derby was a chef for private camps in Upper St. Regis.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Kennedy of Bloomingdale; four sons, Leo of Malone, George of San Jose. Ca., James and John of Saranac Lake; two sisters. Mrs. Florence Reyell and Mrs. Mamie Hogan, both of Saranac Lake; nine grandchildren and two nephews.

Calling hours will be held today at the Fortune Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Bible vigil service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Bloomingdale Fire Department or the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.
