There are photocopies of photos of a big cottage, presumably the Grand View Terrace house, in the Albert Evans Jr. file in the TB Reunion files.

Last Rites Held at Saranac Lake for Mrs. Albert Evans

Saranac Lake -- Private services took place Saturday morning for Mrs. Winifred Durkee Evans, 56, former nurse in this village who for many years conducted a private nursing cottage at 6 Grand View terrace.

Mrs. Evans was the wife of Albert I. Evans, former secretary of the Saranac Lake chamber of commerce, a pioneer newspaper man who is now turnkey at the Franklin county jail. Her death came suddenly on Monday. She had many friends in this village and in other sections of Northern New York. Her death came while she was visiting her son, Albert I. Evans, Jr., in New York city.

Mrs. Evans was a resident of this village more than 30 years. She was born in Vermont and came to this village shortly before her marriage to Mr. Evans.

Relatives who came here for the services were her husband, her son, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Foster and Mrs. Albert Goodspeed of Glens Falls , and her brothers and sisters-in-law Van Ess Durkee of Pittsfield, Mass., Harold Durkee of Lanesboro, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. Donald Durkee of Ticonderoga, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Durkee of Chichester, Mass. The aged mother of Mrs. Evans who also survives was unable to attend the services. They were conducted in the Church of St. Luke the Beloved Physician by Rev. Ernest B. Mounsey, rector.
