Oakland Wiki Taxonomy

Alfred Manuel "Billy" Martin, Jr. (May 16, 1928–December 25, 1989) was a baseball player and manager.

He lived in Berkeley and attended Berkeley High, but played for the Oakland Junior Oaks baseball team and later the Oakland Oaks.

He is probably better known as a fiery major league baseball manager. He managed the Oakland Athletics from 1980 to 1982, and the New York Yankees 5 separate times during the 1970s and 1980s.

The baseball fields at Bushrod Park are named for him.
