Citizens Police Commission is a policy proposal: "Establishing a Citizens Police Commission appointed by the mayor and city council, giving citizens the power to hire and fire police chiefs and oversee the police department"
This was included as a sample proposal for residents to indicate their support or opposition in a Feb. 5, 2014 poll that was sent out to Oaklanders.
Noel Gallo is now trying to get this on the agenda with the hope of getting it on the November ballot. (source)
