The Icarus Project has a local support group meeting weekly in Oakland.

The Icarus Project is a support network and media project by and for people who experience the world in ways that are often diagnosed as mental illness. We advance social justice by fostering mutual aid practices that reconnect healing and collective liberation. We transform ourselves through transforming the world around us.

Doors open at 7:15pm, and are locked at 7:45pm to close the space. Meetings are generally divided into two hours. The first 45-minutes/hour is split into even chunks allowing each attendee to speak, uninterrupted.  (For instance, with 5 attendees, each would be allotted 9 minutes or so, and could speak less or pass altogether, but not exceed that time.)  The second hour is usually crafting, be it collaborative or independent, and conversing about a relevant topic or free-form.
