Facts
In 1844, Stuart belonged to the Whig Party.1
In 1859, Stuart advertised himself as a "receiving and forwarding merchant" on the bank of Black River, selling dry goods, groceries, hardware, and other goods.2
Champ Stuart was involved in local politics and operated a dry goods store.
