San Francisco is one of the few American cities that still has a critical mass of neighborhood theaters in operation. The San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation's mission is to preserve and maintain these theaters. In addition to owning and operating the Vogue Theatre and the Balboa Theater, the Foundation organizes the city's free Film Night in the Park outdoor film series.
