The Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) is the primary location for all undergraduate students seeking academic advising. We are committed to supporting you and meeting your advising needs. We encourage you to meet with us to support your overall transition, wellness, and success at SF State. Some of the common services we provide include, degree planning, choosing/registering for classes, major exploration, academic success strategies, and policy clarification and appeals. We support students both virtually and in-person through advising appointments and drop-in. For more information see below.

Making an Appointment

In-Person Drop-In Advising:

Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm-4:00 pm

Location: Administration 203

* The College of Ethnic Studies and the Graduate College of Education advising teams do not offer drop-in advising, but they may take same-day appointments upon availability. Please check with our front desk to inquire about a same day appointment.

Drop-ins are for "quick questions" that can be answered in 15 minutes or less. We see students on a first come, first serve basis during the drop-in hours posted above.

We will continue to receive students for drop-ins up until the last 15 minutes of each shift. If there is less than 15 minutes remaining for drop-ins, you may attend the next available drop-in time or our front desk staff can help you schedule an appointment.

The Team

The mission of the Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) is to support students success and to empower them to take responsibility for achieving their academic and personal goals. The Undergraduate Advising Center uses a proactive, data-informed, holistic advising approach to support students, offering guidance, advocacy and education to assist students in their first-year transition to SF State all the way through to graduation.

Advising Center Reviews from SFSU Students

Sophia Marx helped in researching alternate courses for the General Education requirements. There are multiple ways to research classes, and Sophia was a major help in showing students what courses are available. The Degree Progress Report (DPR) was also discussed to show what courses were still necessary to complete the degree requirements. The ARC is a major suggestion for students that need a little extra help in planning their course path!

Mack Ervin was an amazing advisor who connected personally and was driven to find the best 
options for the students at SF State. He offered multiple solutions and options to work with 
scheduling and was charismatic and understanding.
