The purpose of this page is to bring attention to some of the common preventable problems that students have faced on their path to graduate (based on a student survey) so that the SFSU community might be able to create solutions.

1.) Students routinely get wrongly informed or left without information regarding their path to graduation.

2.) Students get passed back and forth between GE academic advisors and major department academic advisors.

(potential solution: GE academic advisors and major departments regularly and cooperatively update each other with information about path to graduate)

3.) Students receive mixed information depending on the academic advisor.

4.) SFSU website is unclear on what classes are needed to finish degree and graduate.

(potential solution: routine inspection and updates on SFSU website info on majors and GE classes)

5.) Some classes that are listed for a major aren’t being offered anymore.

(potential solution: Major requirements update along with every semester curriculum offerings)

6.) Core classes for majors get filled up quickly and students can’t access them in a timely manner.

(potential solution: offer more of the popular core classes so SFSU students can access them and graduate in a timely manner)
