These programs provided by Springfield nonprofits are specifically for children and youth.

Back to School Stay in School Academy

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) created this program for youth in order to help eliminate the racial disparities in public education.  Through mentoring, tutoring, and more this organization strives to increase the number of African American youth that graduate from high school.

Compass for Kids

Compass for Kids offers programs throughout the school year and summer. These programs are for low-income and at-risk elementary students. These programs seek to empower students and help them develop life skills. Compass for Kids serves these schools in the Springfield School District 186: Black Hawk, Dubois, Graham, Harvard Park, and McClernand.

Students are nominated by their school if they meet the criteria.
