Levees

The Mayor usually hosts a New Year's Day Levee where members of the public are invited to meet and the Mayor and a number of City Councillors that show up. It usually happens inside the City Hall Rotunda.

The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in alternating years hosts a New Year's Levee inside the Queen's Park Legislature Building and every other year in another city or town elsewhere in Ontario.

Polar Bear Club

Around the shores of Lake Ontario there a number of Polar Bear Dips where people rush into the freezing water for a few moments, then run back to the beach, all in the name of charity.

The most well known in Toronto is the Annual Polar Bear Dip in front of the Sunnsyside Pavillion in the western beaches.

What's Open

While almost everything is closed, a few places are open:
