The area around the Eureka Road and Interstate 75 interchange has extremely limited retail options, even though you have a lot of choices at and around Southland just a minute away. Fortunately, new businesses will pop up in the near future as three large, abandoned structures have been torn down.

History

Redevelopment

The ongoing transformation of the district began with the November 2014 shuttering of the Gibraltar Trade Center after 34 years in the old Joshua Doore warehouse. This was followed several months later in the summer of 2015 by the demolition of the long-shuttered Ramada hotel at the southeast quadrant of the interchange, followed by the respective demolitions of "The Plaza" (itself completely vacant for several years) and subsequently the Trade Center itself. This will allow for the construction of a new Menard's store, slated for a spring 2017 opening.
